Wimbledon Championship - a British Classic!

June 29

We started out our June adventures with the French Open, so only fitting we finish it up with Wimbledon :) Didn't have great luck at the lottery process this year... so it was time to find out what all the fuss was about with the 'Queue' process. We went the first day of the championship and arrived about 630/700 in the morning to get in the queue. We were handed a queue card to hold our spot in line.
As you can see from the picture, we were 6,168 down the queue already! People were starting to camp out for tickets 3 days in and had been there since the morning before for tickets that day.
This is a good view of what the 'Queue' looked like. It was very organized with rows of people that were just hanging out and doing a little pre gaming haha
We finally got in the grounds around 1 pm.

There were fun stops along the 'Queue' to do and help pass the time.
The first match we saw was our local start from NC, John Isner.
It was quite warm out in the sun, but I had on my white hat, a Pimms in hand,
and good tennis to watch so everything was okay in the world :)
The officials were pretty serious with their jobs!
The second match we watched was on a smaller court. We got really good seats up close too.
Didn't realize at the time who we were really watching, but the Italian with brown hair was not playing so hot that day; however she was the woman who knocked Serena out at the US Open stopping her grand slam! Pretty cool that we got to see her play.
There were TONS of shops and people everywhere! The white, purple and green colors were well represented from the plants, staff uniforms, to tents and signs.
It was a lovely day of tennis and great 1st Wimbledon experience!
(Hopefully more to come??!!)
As we were headed out, we saw the Murray Hill where the crowds watch the big matches on the tv. Unbelievable the crowds watching the matches on TV.... we preferred to watch in person since we were there in person :) Nothing beats live tennis and nothing beats ending our time in London with a classic like the Wimbledon Championships!!!
